Mikhail Mishin is interested in the idea of presence and absence of thought and in the phenomena of ‘idea’ as a moment of realization. He finds his inspiration from everyday life and employs mediums available at hand. Currently he focuses on photography, collage, and art books. He believes that a brief encounter with absence, emptiness, or silence lets us glance at what is beyond the intangible walls of our thinking mind and connects us together. Mishin was born in Essentuki, Russia. He studied graphic design in Russia and received BFA in sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design. Currently he lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
